We mustn’t forget that the Sunday in March, the final competition day at the Biathlon World Championships in German Oberhof, with pursuit races for both women and men on the agenda. An epic day, where Sweden secures a double victory, claiming World Championship gold on both the women’s and men’s sides through Hanna \u00d6berg and Sebastian Samuelsson. And as if that weren’t enough, Martin Ponsiluoma also secures a well-deserved silver. What heroes!<\/p>\n

Earlier in the week, there was a double victory in the women’s individual race, with gold for Hanna \u00d6berg and silver for Linn Persson. Sweden was the only nation to win medals in both the women’s and men’s relays, just to mention a few highlights from this year’s World Championships. A historic event where Sweden amassed a total of eleven World Championship medals, a new record, including three gold, three silver, and five bronze medals, and even a Swedish Queen of the World Championships.<\/p>\n

We can also summarize a total of 24 podium finishes in the World Cup, three European Championship medals, and victory on the women’s side in the IBU Cup. Our younger athletes delivered impressive performances throughout the season, with several top 10 placements and a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships. The interest in biathlon among children and youth is greater than ever, evidenced by a new record in the number of participants in youth and junior categories. Tremendous work is being done in our regions and clubs, which is essential for continued growth and success. Over the past year, several strategically important decisions were made, particularly to further strengthen national operations in the prioritized areas of strong regions and clubs.<\/p>\n

The interest in Swedish Biathlon has never been greater than it is now. We’re breaking records in terms of popularity, with our reach on social media continuing to expand. We are the most popular winter sport on TV and have set audience records during the World Cup competitions in \u00d6stersund. We’ve created the festive atmosphere we’ve all dreamt of and desired! We’ve also achieved new records in the marketing are, providing us with unique opportunities to continue developing Swedish biathlon.<\/p>\n

It’s one thing to break records, but to then break them again, and again, and again \u2013 that’s something entirely different!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It shows our strength, the strength of Swedish Biathlon built upon the commitment, passion, and drive that saturate and characterize Swedish Biathlon, our entire movement, and especially our regions and clubs. It’s important to remember that our association and our volunteer leaders are the foundation and basis of everything. All the work done for our children and youth is invaluable.<\/p>\n

From myself and the board, I want to convey a big thank you for a fantastic year and congratulations to EVERYONE who has participated, worked with focus and determination, and contributed to this year of records! Congratulations to our biathletes who impress and deliver fantastic performances, to the entire team\/organization that does an amazing job, but also a big thank you to the association, all the volunteers, everyone within the federation doing brilliant work, and all the partners who make this possible.<\/p>\n

I look forward to continuing our exciting journey together, as we continue the development of Swedish Biathlon in line with our strategy.<\/p>\n

Development on all fronts. We see increased interest among children and youth who want to give it a try, the number of participants in regional and national competitions is growing. The strategic investments in nationwide consultants and a strengthened national office contribute to tremendous growth in the national part of our operations. We’re developing to be able to cater to even more biathlon youths, introducing new training programs, increasing access to air rifles, and actively supporting new facilities.<\/p>\n

Being able to gather nearly 100 people at the first biathlon conference in Uppsala ahead of the winter season was a milestone for Swedish Biathlon; never before have so many come together! Exciting days with engaging lectures mixed with practical sessions to create new conditions for ongoing development in our elongated biathlon land.<\/p>\n

Applications to our high schools and post-secondary programs show positive development. This is a vital activity in preparing for international elite competitions and expanding our senior activities in Sweden. A national team in constant development and forward-thinking towards new goals and dreams \u2013 for our younger athletes, there’s the prospect of the 2025 Junior World Championships in \u00d6stersund and why not raise our sights and dream towards the 2030 Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n

Both national and international events in Sweden have reached new heights on various levels. We kicked off with the Swedish premiere at Idrefj\u00e4ll, where participants from several other nations, including France, took part. We live-streamed events such as Junior Swedish Championships, Senior Swedish Championships, and Roller Biathlon Swedish Championships. We successfully hosted the World Cup in \u00d6stersund during our “V10” phase, with packed stands and an incredible atmosphere. Strong developments within our competitions, in various ways, are paving the way for new opportunities.<\/p>\n

Two years ago, we strategically decided to enhance our partner structure and collaboration with our partners. We invested in human resources and worked systematically, providing us with a strong foundation and creating new commercial opportunities. But not just that, we’ve also gained active partners who contribute to the development of Swedish Biathlon.<\/p>\n

All of the biathlon members in Sweden, parents, club leaders and officials together with a fantastic organization are crucial for our development.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
